Programme of Work
Task 8 began in 2000 and concluded in 2002. Bringing cleaner vehicles onto the market was of interest not only for hybrid and electric vehicles but also for other technologies. For this reason, IA-HEV partnered with the IEA Implementing Agreement on Advanced Motor Fuels (IEA-AMF) for Task 8.
Task 8 members focused on studies and participated in workshops to gather information on market introduction activities. Topics studied were test fleets, demonstration fleets, government incentive programs for cleaner vehicles, and the role of stakeholders. Four subtasks were organized to complete the work.
This Task submitted a final report, Deployment Strategies for Hybrid, Electric and Alternative Fuel Vehicles. Although written almost a decade ago, the general report findings are currently relevant for policy makers. Task 8 provided valuable leadership in producing this report at a time in history when governments and other stakeholders needed information on EVs and clean vehicle technologies in order to achieve air quality goals. The report aggregated information that provided a factual basis for implementing favorable policies and practical steps to advance EVs and other clean vehicle technologies. The report contains analysis of 95 government programmes in 18 countries.
Participating countries were Austria, Belgium, Finland, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Sweden, Switzerland, and United States.
Engineering Office Muntwyler of Switzerland served as the Operating Agent.
