IA-HEV hopes to engage a wider audience by sharing information and resources to advance electric vehicles across the globe. A redesigned IA-HEV website and e-newsletter format were unveiled in February 2012 by Task 1 while also carrying out its regular schedule of semiannual meetings for IA-HEV members.

During 2011, two Task 1 expert meetings were held in conjunction with the IA-HEV Executive Committee (ExCo) meetings, in May 2011 in Istanbul, Turkey, and in November 2011, in Lisbon, Portugal. Experts from most IA-HEV member countries, as well as some guests, presented on the status of hybrid and electric vehicles in terms of policy, research, charging infrastructure, and sales. Further details are available in the articles for the Task 1 and ExCo meetings in May 2011 and November 2011.

The Department of Energy, United States (U.S.) sponsors the Task 1 Operating Agent (OA). Along with the semiannual expert meetings, the primary tools used for general IA-HEV information dissemination are the printed annual report, newsletter, and website. Each country representative and Task Operating Agent routinely submits information for all three communication tools.

The objectives for this task are to facilitate the sharing of information among members, and to clearly communicate the results of IA-HEV work to an audience of policy makers. Of course, the Task 1 OA hopes that others such as research organizations, industry, and other interested parties will also benefit from the communication tools.

This past year, Task 1 OA Kristin Abkemeier, Alison Mize, and the DOE team produced a comprehensive 2010 Annual Report, a completely redesigned and relaunched website, and moved from a downloadable PDF newsletter format to an e-newsletter linking to articles on the website. Each IA-HEV country representative contributed to the content and provided design feedback. These tools are designed to disseminate the knowledge gained from IA-HEV multilateral co-operation to reach a larger audience. The new e-newsletter and website software has been flexibly designed using a platform that makes updating the website easier. Currently each member country and Task Operating Agent is submitting their chapters now for inclusion in the 2011 Annual Report.

The next Task 1 meeting is scheduled for May 6, 2012, to coincide with the ExCo meeting and EVS 26 (the 26th World Electric Vehicle Symposium) in Los Angeles, California, U.S. Please contact Ms. Kristin Abkemeier,  Task 1 Operating Agent, for more information.
