Ireland - Charging Infrastructure

By Country

The Irish Government and the energy utility ESB have each signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Renault-Nissan alliance to promote the introduction of electric vehicles (EVs) in Ireland. This MOU will ensure that these vehicles are offered for sale in Ireland as soon as they are available, while also ensuring that Irish utilities and Government are fully apprised of the latest developments in electric vehicle technology.

Additionally, Sustainable Energy Ireland is conducting a €500,000 pilot scheme to assess the suitability of Ireland for EVs and to demonstrate and test various infrastructural systems. Making sure that the Irish motorist will be able to take advantage of the benefits offered by EVs is central to Government policy.
