Annexes

Annex I: Information Exchange

Annex I collects information on the numbers and types of hybrid and electric vehicles, their technical specifications, government programs to promote development of these vehicles, and behavioral data of vehicle operators. The information is analyzed by the team leader and exchanged among participating countries. Some information has also been presented at technical conferences and published for the interested public. Annex I continues in Phase III.

Annex VII: Hybrid Vehicles

Annex VII "Hybrid Vehicles" has issued its final report, Status Overview of Hybrid and Electric Vehicle Technology (2007). This Annex is winding down its work and will be succeeded in Phase IV of the Agreement by a new annex on plug-in hybrid vehicles, whilst the current Annex XII will cover heavy-duty hybrid applications.

Annex IX: Clean City Vehicles

Annex IX is in the advanced planning stage and has already organized two successful workshops on the problems of reducing air pollution due to vehicles in the cities of developing countries. The goal of this annex is to exchange information among cities worldwide on how to reduce air pollution from road traffic. Efforts in Phase III will concentrate on overcoming certain barriers, such as dealing with the wide scope of technologies suitable for developing countries and obtaining financial support for this work.

Annex X: Electrochemical Systems

Annex X includes work on batteries, fuel cells, and supercapacitors. Its activities include general information exchange among participants, exchange and harmonization of testing methods, and coordination with other annexes in this field. Annex X will be restructured and continued in Phase III.

Annex XI: Electric Cycles

The goal of Annex XI is to identify barriers that hinder market penetration of two-wheel electric vehicles and to develop way to overcome them. The official launch of this annex is planned for March 2006.

Annex XII: Heavy-Duty Hybrid Vehicles

Annex XII will investigate available and emerging hybrid technologies for trucks, buses, dedicated heavy-duty vehicles, and possibly off-road mobile machinery such as forklifts, construction equipment or military equipment. It will also report on technology and market status/trends.

Annex XIII: Fuel Cells for Vehicles

Annex XIII will focus on mobile application of fuel cells, including use as auxiliary power units (APUs) and hybridisation of the fuel cell with on-board energy storage devices like batteries or super-caps. The emphasis will be on technology assessment and foresight activities from an international perspective, and on advising industrial and public decision takers on R&D and market introduction.

New participants are welcome in both new projects.
