Annex XIV Work Plan

Year 1: October 1, 2007-September 30, 2008
Year 2: October 1, 2008-September 30, 2009

The work of this Annex will rely upon at least three research components:

  • Workshops in former deployment areas (California, Switzerland, Sweden, Japan) that bring together "experts" from these regions with a range of experiences and perspectives on the lessons they have learned so far in the deployment of electric and hybrid vehicles. These will include those with experience in manufacturing, distribution, sales, charging infrastructure and market support from the utilities and governments. This approach will yield a useful comparative project across these regions.
  • Additional interviews with important experts who cannot attend workshops.
  • Review of literatures and historical materials from each deployment regions, including other sources of interest will be evaluated, e.g. surveys among EV and HEV users in fleet tests etc.

Products:

Products will be as follows:

Interim Reports:

Following regional workshops, we will develop:

  • A narrative of the EV deployment for each region, compile from the workshops and interviews.
  • A list of "Lessons Learned" for each country/ region, compiled from all sources.
  • These interim documents will be circulated after each workshop and compiled at the end of the year.
  • Interim results will also be incorporated into an evolving PowerPoint presentation that will form the primary discussion template for each sequential workshop.

Final Report:

A Final Report will consist of a comparative evaluation, and summary analysis "Lessons Learned" in past deployments of EVs worldwide, vetted by all participants, and additional experts.
